A Heartfelt Plea

Dear Blogger,

Lately, it seems as though you have been pulling away from me. Yes you have, you can't deny it...don't try to reassure me. It seemed innocent at first-a long lag when trying to access pages...my posts not showing up until the next day, but that's okay. You're busy, I know I am just one in a long queue of people waiting for your time, and I know I'm not perfect. I've had my weeks at a time when I just needed my space...and you took me back every time! But lately...I don't know. It just seems like you are going out of your way to avoid me! I mean..just a few days ago, you wouldn't accept my post, and all I could get was a message saying, "File server not found." What is this? You don't KNOW me anymore...our 10 months together can be swept under the carpet just like that? You apologized and you made it right, but now you won't take my pictures. This hurts, Blogger, it really hurts. I know there's probably some cheap explanation, and "You're sorry" and that "Engineers are working night and day, blah blah blah" but it might be too little, too late. Please woo me back, Blogger...please make it the way it was in the old days when all we worried about was the fact that I had to use frigging IE if I wanted to post a picture...can you do that?

Because if you don't, I am SO dragging this shit over to Wordpress.

Love and Kisses,

Robin

I daresay that the problem might be more at the blogspot end than the blogger end, because the problems you were telling us you had? I haven't had any of those. But I have my own domain that I host elsewhere.

I'm too cheap to pay for my own server space, Robin, but you're certainly right about this and quite warrented in going to Wordpress. Blogger has been the pits for a good 6 months now and really, really bad the past 6 weeks or so. Uploading picture problems, server issues--you name it. You'd think that after Google bought Blogger that things would improve not get worse!

Michele sent me to see your lovely self--and commiserate with your Blogger issues, Robin.

I agree with you but I am not willing to pay to have my blog...so I guess I just have to cope with blogger and blogger issues *sigh*. Here via Michele's!

I have my own Web site registerd, but I just use it for email. So I'm stuck using a free product and, like you, bitching about it. I usually copy-paste my posts into Word before hitting Post just in case Blogger shits the bed.

I think we've all had some diffidence from Blogger recently, but in fairness, they put up a fairly comprehensive post in their support section last week that explained what had been happening.

I'm gonna take a look around here; this is a new one for me!

Oh Yes Indeed! Great Post. What to do? I feel very muchg like you but I'm also a creature of habit...I keep hoping Blogger will get their act together and be able to handle all of us once again!

That was funny, and true. I HATE so much blogger trouble lately.

I wish I had the time to move to a self-hosted solution. At least then I would have someone to blame - namely myself - if things went sour.

As it is, it's frustrating. I think I can live with the back-end admin glitches. They eventually work themselves out and have little impact beyond me. But when visitors can't leave comments or, holy of holies, they can't access the site, I get ticked.

I haven't had that much trouble from Blogger, except a whole day when I couldn't leave a comment anywhere.

Hi - thanks for stopping by today. Blogger - yeah. The love-hate went totally south for me late last year. I've no complaints with WordPress, and I think they have some kind of free (i.e. semi-Blogger type) setup available. Having my own "place" has been really nice though, well worth the five bucks a month. Still, like Carmi said it comes down to what you can live with.
