Say Hello to My Little Friend

So, I worked last night, managed to limp home after picking my daughter up, got 5 hours of sleep, then up to play with the new baby! I found that it fuses stuff nicely to batting, so I made little “chips” to use on whatever. This is an awesome way to get rid of
my embarrassing collection of scraps. Scraps of threads, scraps of fabrics, yarns, etc. I just can’t seem to be able to just THROW the stuff away! So, now it will be offending the public at large while being felted into some other monstrosity that needed immolation finishing. Here are pics of the maple leaf. The cool thing is that there are different effects on the front AND the back of the stuff you embellish.

In other news, I am thinking of having a new design created for the blog from either Web Divas or Blog Togs . What I want to avoid is that new standard which seems to be an impossibly curvy mascot gracing the top of the page; I do want feminine, but not frou-frou. I like a lot of the pages they’ve made that DO have the impossibly curvy mascot, but I don’t think it’s me. I’m hoping to learn enough to somehow or another create my own, but I don’t know the first thing about it. Best to leave this stuff to professionals, I say. Now if I’d only listened to this wise wise intuition when I took the scissors to my bangs…

I'm LOVING the embellished leaf picture - wow, you could really do some great stuff with that new toy - and I hope you show us all more pics! Thanks also for the links to the blog thingys - I had no idea there were people making these customised bits for blogs - how totally COOL!

Hi - came over to say thanks for leaving a nice comment on my tagboard.
I've never heard of the baby lock before - fascinating!I know we used to have various items around the house when I was a kid that featured this type of thing, but didn't know you could do it at home. Wish I could get pricing details, but haven't found the right link.
Plus, if you ever want any 'keen amateur' help with a design for your blog, let me know. I've started doing a few tweaks and such lately, and have picked up quite a bit of knowledge. For 'feminine but not too fluffy' I would also suggest a look at Ciao My Bella if you don't mind paying for a pro job.

Caitlin: I have found quite a few places offering to design the templates, and the prices are so reasonable that it hardly seems right for me to overtax my brain trying to figure the stuff out myself!
The Embellisher is so fun, and I understand that they've really had to come down on their prices, so they're much more affordable than when they first came out--$1100!!(I think roughly 600 pounds!) I have a whole bag of dyed wool locks, and I know those babies are gonna get some use pretty soon!!

Storycharms: Your site is beautiful, and I'd love to know how you do your tagboard, too. a much cooler way for people to leave a quick comment than having to actually go into the comment editor and go through all of that!
